GENERAL INFO

KIT

As the weather turns colder it is important to have the right clothing. Ideally we would like members to gradually build up their own kit as we have limited funds that are better spent on boats and paddles etc.  Wetsuits are great or a pair of leggings/ shorts, a fleece top as this retains the heat well and a windproof top are also fine.  A pair of old trainers or wet suit shoes neoprene with rubber soles are also important. You can ask any of the coaches for tips.

Facebook/ Website

IF you “like” our facebook page then you will be able to keep u with goings on at the club and with major events in the canoeing world. Also our website www.pinkstonpanthers.com has useful information.

Paddlepower certificate

Over the coming weeks we will be looking to work through the paddlepower certification scheme. This involves learning and demonstrating lots of different canoeing and kayaking skills (Canoeing : Single bladed paddles like Native Americans. Kayaking double bladed paddles like Eskimos).

Pool sessions

Last winter we ran a successful series of pool sessions at Easterhouse pool. This is primarily focused on learning how to “Eskimo Roll” a kayak which is a great skill to master….saves swimming J Look out for details of pool sessions this year.
